This will probably make no sense to the majority of you. Thats to be expected.
Let me take you back to several years ago, sometime around my sophomore year in high school when I first hear of this game called "EverQuest" Through a lot of convincing I finally get my mother to let me use her credit card, I get the game, create an account, and begin playing the most addictive game I had ever played.
Fast forward a few years, still playing EQ1, I hear of "Everquest 2" and nearly wet myself. I camp the forums, scrounging for every little scrap of information about this holy grail. All the while of course laughing at the WoW noobs and their silly little ugly ass game. EQ2 has more polygons, therefore in my mind, better graphics. Fast forward again 2 more years, EQ2 is FINALLY released and I'm at gamestop at 8am to pick my collectors edition. I play EQ2 for 2 months, tops, before dropping it out of sheer lack of interest. It just lacked that eq magic.
A few months later I figure "If I'm going to complain about how shitty WoW is I better get a copy and play it for a few days so I'll have an informed opinion" So I do. 5 months later and still playing I realize what has happened, WoW is a great game, the graphics, while EXTREMELY different are no less beautiful that that of EQ2, and the game is hella fun. (though it is about as idiot filled as a game can get)Another year or so of off and on playing WoW and I've forgotten all about EQ2.
Until a week ago, that is.
I get a newsletter in my mailbox about the new eq2 expansion. It's Fadwer.
Small eq history, Fadwer is the continent where wood elves, high elves, dwarves and gnomes come from, it boasts the great Faydark Forest, the Wood Elven tree city of Kelethin and the High Elf capital of Felwithe and hosted my favorite zones in the game.
I know as I'm reading that I'm going to reactivate my account, and know that I'm probably going to be disappointed.
A few days of patching later, I finally log in.
Holy Shit. It's changed, it's changed so much. Gone is the forced grouping and dying all the time, gone are spell interruptions every hit, gone is Everything I disliked about the game, and in their place are excellent new additions to piratically every aspect of the game. Not only am I not disappointed I haven't even logged into WoW since. The community is about a thousand times more mature and well spoken than that of WoW, and helpful and nice to boot. The world has actually changed and evolved since last I played, quests have changed, armies have moved, and I've never been so delighted. They added a new alternate model pack for the characters that is about 500 times better. Here, have some screenshots.
( Screenshots )In short EQ2 now rocks.
